More catching up - Mother's Day

Isn't it funny how different kids are? Savannah loved this frog chair.  She sat in it every day while I cooked and cleaned.
Madison is less than impressed with it.  She'll sit in it for a little bit, but wants to sit up more (this keeps her slightly reclined).
Our morning routine: Madison goes down for her first nap.  Then Savannah and I go outside and enjoy coffee (me) and she decorates the driveway with chalk.  If I'm lucky, she even lets me complete one of my Soduko puzzles.
Tom's cousin, Hannah, graduated from 8th grade last week.  Savannah was even wearing one of her old dresses in this picture.  It's made it through 3 other cousins before Savannah.  I love seeing clothes be passed along.

So many special memories have been had in this dress.  Can't wait to add more!
Front yard picnic!
These are the flower Savannah picked out from my mom's sale at school.  She was so excited to plant them and get to be in charge of watering them.
She's better at remembering to water them than I am haha.
My little cutie!
Some mornings, I need a little pick me up, so I make a poptart.  Not healthy at all, but makes me happy haha.
Savannah LOVES when I share with her.  It is truly the highlight of her morning!

 - - - MOTHER'S DAY - - -

Mother's Day was perfect.  We went to mass the night before so we took it easy on Sunday morning.  Tom let me sleep in a little extra and was sweetly greeted in bed with coffee and a card from Savannah.
Tom helped Savannah put into words what she loves about me.  That was all I needed! Day complete!
But then, the spoiling continued.
Tom made some delicious eggs for us to enjoy on the back patio, then followed by Savannah doing some finger painting and Tom and I enjoying a mimosa. Madison was sleeping, of course.  She misses all the fun...poor baby.

After breakfast, we enjoy some pool time in the back yard.
Tom treated his girls to DQ.  We found a park on the way home and enjoyed our treat and let Savannah play.
I feel like I earned a new "Mom Badge" that day.  This was the first day Savannah ventured outside the house with her big girl undies.
She went potty when we were at DQ, which I marked as a success.
Then while we were at the park, she announces that she has to go again.  I looked at Tom with big eyes and just said, "What do we do!?"
This little park was literally nestled between houses.  No covered areas to squat in.  I know she's a kid, but I was just so stumped as to what we should do.
My genius idea was to have her stand in the front seat of my car and hoover over a cup that I had in there.  Let's just say, some of it made it in the cup haha.
Now I drive around with a potty chair in the back of the car...and we've used it a few times!

This was my view of Savannah and Tom eating and talking at the park while I nursed Madison in the car.  Mom life!

2 of my 3 favorite people in the whole world!

These photos are out of order somehow so I'll just roll with it.

Savannah and Tom planting the garden.
Our first trip to Deanna Rose for the season.  I can't believe that last year she couldn't see over this fence to look at the rabbits.  I didn't have to lift her up this year (yes, I'm crying over here!!)
Madison couldn't hang.
Do you think Madison enjoyed her first trip to Deanna Rose??
Enjoying goodies from the ice cream truck with friends.

Taking care of her pretty flowers
Super excited to be riding in Daddy's car.  Such a treat!
Savannah FINALLY went #2 on the toilet (this is a loooooooong time coming!) We were so excited.  It didn't matter that bedtime was 30 minutes away, Savannah got to jump in the car with Daddy and get a special ice cream treat.
We were proud.
She was proud.
Oh the things we get excited about haha!
Reading a book with grandma and grandpa
Writing Daddy notes to put in his suitcase.
Our plan was to have a different note for each day of his trip but I think she lost interest after 3 days haha
He's currently in China...and we miss his so much!

I love our morning walks together!
Visiting an old teacher friend
Some days call for swimsuits and umbrellas!

Who doesn't eat yogurt on the floor, naked?

We are 2.5 days into Tom's 10 day China trip.  So far, so good!
I am working on my patience, and Savannah is really good at helping me practice haha!

Omaha plus more

Tom has been putting in many, many hours at work.  I had asked him to take a few days off during the week so we could take the kids on a mini vacation.  We decided to make the short drive (just under three hours) to Omaha to visit the zoo and their children's museum.
Neither place disappointed us.
The zoo was wonderful.  It was a chilly morning, but the sun came out in the afternoon.

Savannah was enamored with every animal.
I love the gorillas! I actually got teary eyed because this mom was holding her baby and it was just the sweetest thing.
This peacock was just roaming around the zoo.  It got a little too close for Savannah's liking.
I promise we had Madison along, she just stayed in the stroller most of the morning.
 There she is!
Madison got to check out the big aquariums.
Savannah was excited to stay in the hotel and swim.
 She loved the pool.

 Girls girls girls
Savannah was so excited to sleep in the "big bed".  After we said our prayers, Savannah said, "Thank you for taking me to the big hotel bed." Such a sweetie!
Insisted on her winter hat for breakfast
Then we went to the Omaha Children's Museum.  Savannah and Tom got to use power tools, hammers, nails, and other scraps to create something.
I think Savannah said this was a bird feeder haha. It was fun to make!

Nap time looked a little different for those two days.
The kids were really good! It was so fun to hear all the "thank yous" from Savannah.  She was so grateful for everything we did. So sweet!
Look at the animal she chose to ride.  Girl after her father's heart.

We had a birthday dinner at my parents house for Katie.  Savannah insisted on her "party dress" and then accessorized all on her own. (Do you see the cow rain boots? haha)
She also made sure Madison wore her pink tutu.
Only our finest outfits for Katie's birthday.

 Hanging out with her buddy.
Enjoying a lunch picnic at the park
 looking for fish and turtles
 Picking flowers
Take your daughter to work day.
Tom got to work on this particular day and found out that there were other kids there.  He called me at 10 and said I could bring the kids up if it worked out.  Luckily, Madison had just woke up so we hustled to get everyone ready and out the door.
Savannah loved going to the office.  Now we play "office" at home.
Savannah likes to put her ball in her shirt.

 4 months old!

Baby Buddies! Can't wait to watch Madison and Cate become buddies.
My dad has been loving making bacon on the grill.  The backyard is his is happy place!
 Grandma's are the best!
 Isn't their backyard beautiful!

We visited mom at her school.  They had a spring flower sale.
Savannah got to pick out some flowers for our house.

This chick is all about the accessories!
