Tom was in Seattle last week. On Friday, I attempted the trifecta (running the dishwasher, washing clothes, and taking a shower). Apparently this was just too much for our pipes and madness ensued. I noticed the back room was full of water (thank goodness we have plastic bins and things are off the floor). I told Tom that it seemed to be draining back down and he said he'd fix it this weekend. We had to get to church bingo Friday night (priorities!!)
Well, Saturday morning Tom went downstairs to check the drain. He came back up and asked,
"Was there shit on the ground yesterday?"
I said, "Yeah, there was dirt and grim that came up with the water."
"No, Erin, literally, was there shit!?"
"Ewww no!"
(Excuse my use of the "s" word...I really wanted to paint the picture for you all.)
Tom was a rockstar getting people out to the house to snake the pipe and made about 15 phone calls setting up other people to come out and help us. We don't know anything more than the pipe is collapsed "somewhere". Hopefully we will get more answers tomorrow when someone else comes out. For now, Tom is ripping up the carpet that was saturated with "sewage". Looks like our basement (and probably our yard) will be getting an unexpected makeover. We are on Day 2 of "no water use". I'm really hoping for a quick turn around!
Thanks mom and dad for a place to do our laundry and shower!
Now for pictures from our week...
Soaking up all the beautiful weather we can!
77 degrees in Feb...that's how we roll
Then a quick turn around in temperature the next few days.
Savannah wanted to go see this statue. She kept pointing at it and saying, "Jesus! Jesus!"
Friday night was bingo at church. We really bring the average age down.
The family that plays BINGO together, stays together. We were glad to have aunts, uncles, and cousins join in the fun again this year!
2 years running, still no winners.
Saturday night was the annual Benedictine College Scholarship Ball. Our friends love getting dressed up and enjoying this fun night together. I love hearing about all the great accomplishments coming out of my alma mater. We are proud to be a part of such a faith filled, generous, and lively community.
