Let's rewind.
Being sick is the worst. Right!?
I don't need to give all the lovely details, but I was down and out for 4 days. Thank goodness that is over. Tom was such a trooper and stepped right up. He came home early 2 days to be sure that I was able to take a nap. (Of course these are the days that Miss Savannah decides that 40 minute naps are all she needs...haha yeah right girl!) Luckily, Savannah only had a small cough for a few days, but avoided all the nasty that I had.
{This girl knows how to make her own fun when I am not feeling up to it. She loves pulling all my swimsuits out and wearing them. What a goof!}
{She carried the wrapping paper like this all through the store. As you can imagine, we didn't get anywhere too fast on that trip. Oh well, I love letting her do her thing. We had no where to be!}
{This was right before I got sick. We were enjoying 73 degree weather in November! Tom even took a break from work to meet us at the park. }
{You guys, we were still getting tomatoes in the garden in NOVEMBER! It was awesome. They are officially gone now}
{Writing Daddy a message before he gets home from work. Savannah wanted to add her own artistic flair!}
I got healthy just in time for Thanksgiving. We stayed in Kansas and enjoyed the calm. It was so nice to have Tom home for a few days and not have much planned.
On Thanksgiving, we went to mass in the morning with my parents and then headed to their house for brunch. Joan joined us, and then put on a concert full of Christmas music and other oldies, but goodies!
{I am always amazed at the songs she can play by memory. She's amazing!}
{We love listening to her play}
{I can't believe this is already Savannah's SECOND Thanksgiving! Where is the time going?}
{Tom managed to get all his girls in Vikings gear. Too bad it didn't bring them luck}
Tom's dad drove down from Minnesota and arrived on Friday. Friday was all about decorating for Christmas. He helped keep Savannah wrangled and away from the ornaments.
{It always takes Savannah a little time to warm up to new people, but clearly she loves her Papa!}
Saturday, we took Jim down to Union Station and Crown Center. These are must sees at Christmas time especially. There was a huge train display that I think everyone enjoyed. Savannah did a lot of walking. She is quite the independent chick these days.
On Sunday, we met up with Kaylee and Colby for church and then breakfast at Hy-Vee. It was a fun morning of great conversation. After that, Tom and Jim visited the WWI museum while Savannah napped. There was so much to see they didn't even get to the second floor and were gone most of the day! They both learned a lot.
Before Jim began his trek back north, we stopped at the cafe my sister works at and enjoyed some tea and gourmet toast (their specialty). Savannah got to watch the bakers hard at work.
One more stop before he left...we went to Tom's office so Jim could see where Tom spends a lot of his time. Everyone at the office loves when Savannah comes in. She likes to walk around and make herself right at home.
We were sad to see Papa Jim leave, but loved every moment of having him here. One on one visits are so special because you can really enjoy each others presence. We can't wait for the next visit!
{This pic is from this morning while I was making Savannah some eggs. Can you tell she has quite the personality? This girl has got some spunk.}
