2 week catch up

For the past few weeks, I've been telling Tom I need to update the blog, but that just never happened.  We've been busy enough to not feel like I've had time to sit down and update this.  Here we go...

A few weeks ago, we were all gearing up for the ice storm on the year.  Kansas City always freaks out a bit when bad weather is predicted.  We aren't used to it like out Minnesota friends.  Due to this terrible storm rolling in, all the local schools were closed Friday (they even announced it Thursday evening....so early!)

The picture above is from Friday afternoon.  To say that they predicted this one wrong was an understatement.  Even though I no longer teach, I always welcome snow days because that means my mom is off.  We squeezed in some shopping and cards on her day off!

Savannah found her chef outfit and wanted to give it a whirl.  She loves stirring bowls and whisking eggs with me.

Savannah tries to be very independent.  She always wants to drink out of our cups.  She hasn't gotten the hang of it yet...

She's tall enough to reach the water.  We have to lock this most days or there will be water everywhere!

Savannah got this rocking chair for Christmas and puts it to good use.
Thank goodness for technology.  Eva, Brooklyn and Savannah got to enjoy dinner together.  How cute are those three!?
Practicing her touchdown dance for the Chiefs game (before they lost).
Since the "ice storm" hit over presidents weekend, my mom ended up with a 4 day weekend.  That meant more cards on Monday.  We try to get a whole game of Hand and Foot in during nap time, but clearly Savannah woke up before we could finish.  One of these days she will be able to join us!
There is a trampoline park/kids jungle gym in town that runs a special on Tuesday mornings.  I am trying to hit it up once in a while.  I definitely cringe when she wants to get in this germ pit, I mean ball pit.  She loves it.
Savannah does everything with her right hand, but recently has been testing the left when she doodles.
Putting coins in her piggy bank is a new activity.  I must have given her too many coins the other day because she hid a small pile of them under her rug and said "all done".  She's been putting books under there too.  Funny girl.
Savannah loves putting shoes on.  She doesn't care how big they are, she tries to get her feet in them.
The next day, back at the piggy bank
I had to return something to IKEA and this is the little kids area right by the return desk.  They are geniuses! Savannah didn't want to leave.
I took some clothes to Catholic Charities last week and found this desk.  I could picture Savannah playing school and coloring away at this desk.  Needless to say, it came home with us.  Once the weather is better, I am going to sand it down and paint it up!

We have old car seats that friends had given us in the basement.  We cleaned them up and put them back together last week.  Savannah was obsessed with sitting in it.  I can't believe she even let me clip her in! It was like her own personal recliner.

Saturday morning, Tom went to help John while I get my nails done with my aunt.  I was cashing in on my birthday present.
Savannah got to hang out with Madeline and Hannah.  Savannah loved playing with their old toys!
These girls are the sweetest! Thanks for entertaining Savannah!

Tom had some hotel points that were going to expire if he didn't have activity on his account.  We decided to slip away to Lawrence (30ish minute away) and just enjoy an evening out.  We ended up having more fun playing cards and games in the hotel room than anything else.  We went to dinner and both agreed it was just too loud.  We would rather hang out in our quiet room.  I guess we're getting old.  Or just enjoy the peace and quiet that we forgot existed before Savannah.
As much as we loved out night away, we can't stand to be away from Savannah too long.
I told her to show us her teeth, and this is what we get!

You'll notice the blankets I tied onto her crib...Savannah enjoys chewing on her crib when she wakes up. She hasn't done it in a while, but I know the first time I take the blankets off, she'll try it again.

Savannah got my dad's old cell phone for Christmas.  She loves it!

She used to be as bald as her cabbage patch baby.  I can't believe how much hair she is getting.
She's super pumped about her pink converse shoes.  They belonged to a friend who was getting too big for them. When Savannah tried them on (remember, she loves trying on shoes) the little girl's mom insisted that Savannah keep them.  I wish I could keep any shoes I tried on!
She loves anything that belongs to Katie.  Good thing Katie has other hats to wear.
After dinner books.  These two make quite a pair!
Yesterday was a beautiful day.  We had to get outside and enjoy it while it lasts.
Hanging out with her buddy at Joan's house.
Give her an empty egg carton and she's content...at least for a few minutes.

That's a wrap! Hopefully I won't go so long next time.

Sassy Savannah

Savannah has been fairly moody for a while now.  I keep claiming that her teeth are bothering her, but they haven't made their appearance yet, maybe that's not the issue.  Who knows! She is a very independent, spunky, curious little girl.

When we came home from my parent's house after Christmas celebrations, we decided to take advantage of above freezing temps.  Savannah wasn't feeling her stroller so she opted for a ride on Daddy's shoulders.  Not a bad choice.
My theory is, if you got yourself in the bucket, you can get yourself out.  Savannah does not agree.
Hanging out at the library.  I am always looking for a reason to get out of the house.  I miss nice weather and being able to go outside!
Savannah and yogurt is always an adventure.

On Christmas, there was a show on animal planet that was just puppies, kittens, bunnies, and other animals playing on a Christmas scene.  Savannah loves watching the puppies.
Tuesday was one of Savannah's moody mornings.  Can you see the sas on her face!?
We went to IKEA so we could walk and get rid of some energy.
We had some decent weather and took advantage of it!
Wednesday, I subbed for a few hours in the afternoon so Tom came home and worked while Savannah was napping.  After nap time, they got some one on one time together!
Checking out the neighborhood.

O'Connor Christmas

We celebrated Christmas with my family last weekend.  My mom's family used to exchange gifts on the Epiphany, so we thought we would continue the tradition this year.  We went to mass on Sat night (just like we would have on Christmas Eve) and then had dinner and played games all night.  Presents and a big breakfast were slated in for "Christmas Morning".
My mom surprised all of us after dinner with matching pajamas. (My dream come true!)  The girls of the family were thrilled.  The men...they were troopers!  My mom probably should have taken the tags off before she gave them to my dad and Tom so they wouldn't have known they were wearing women's PJs.

After dinner we enjoyed a round of Rack-O (Thank you to our God daughter for sending it to us. It has definitely been the most used Christmas gift of the season.  Great Game!) Then my mom pulled out this huge blob of saran wrapped gifts.
Here's a video the game...so many laughs!
Tom cannot wait to wear these PJs again!
Sunday, (Christmas morning) was spent listening to Christmas music, enjoying a nice breakfast and opening presents.
Savannah was getting a little handsy.

Some people play the piano with their hands.  Savannah chooses to use other body parts.

 Showing off Katie's new hat.

Savannah really got into unwrapping presents.
Great minds think alike.  These two got each other the EXACT SAME GIFT. Looks like we will be having a family BINGO night soon.
It was the year of pajamas! I don't hate it :)
We attempted a family picture one too many times for Savannah.

And that's a wrap on Christmas celebration.
