Never ending house issues

Just when we thought we were out of the clear with all the electrical issues...we have a leak.

Tom usually fixes everything in our house, but he is has been crazy busy recently with work, so I asked him if he would just prefer I call a plumber and see what they have to say.  I figured something was just clogging the pipe and they could easily and quickly fix it.

NOPE.

Nothing seems to be quick or easy at our house these days.

Stage one - They dug up this relatively small part of the basement to find out that this wasn't everything.
FYI - those plastic sheets didn't hold any of the dust back.  Everything downstairs has a thick coat of cement dust.  Can't wait to start that clean up.
Stage two - Cut all this cement out and remove our rotten pipes.

I'd say these were ready to be replaced.

 Here comes the cement.
Tom was a trooper and moved all the stuff in the back room to the other side.  Unfortunately, this is all in the garage right now because we get new carpet tomorrow and this room needs to be cleared out.
It is seriously never a dull moment at the Joerger house.
Maria, Sarah, and Gail come to visit us at the end of the month.  The goal is that everything will be back in it's place by then.  Any takers on helping with the clean up!?

On a positive note, We enjoyed our last week with Evie before she started school this week.  I am so thankful that we got to spend the end of our summer with her.  Savannah (slowly) learned to share her toys and they developed a beautiful friendship.  Savannah has been asking about her every day this week.

Last Wednesday, we got to hang out with Mary Grace, Kaylee, and Colby.
Little did we know, Mary Grace had a big request of Tom and I.
We are so honored to be her Godparents and cannot wait to stand next to Kaylee and Colby on her Baptism Day!
(How can we say no when there is ice cream cake!?)
I feel like I get bigger and bigger everyday.  Trying to grow Baby Joerger big and strong!
Savannah is going through a MAJOR mommy phase.  I thought we had hit one before but this is something else.  She wants me to do everything.  If Tom tries to put her in her chair , "Mommy do." Bedtime? "Mommy do".
I've gotten to the point a few nights where I tell her I have to go to work and force her to let Tom put her to bed.
Poor Tom shouldn't take it personally (but of course he does).  I was able to capture a few rare moments where Savannah was fine just chilling with dad and letting mom have a few moments to herself.

Tom doing work and Savannah reading
This week, we checked out Wonderscope for the first time.  This is a place I used to go to on field trips in elementary school.  I haven't taken Savannah yet because I thought it was for older kids.
Nope, she loved it!!
The whole place is set up like a mini world for kids.  She was in heaven when we walked into a pretend hospital filled with babies.  On the other side was the veterinarian.  What a great room!!

This was the art room.  I literally had to drag her away from the painting station.
Unfortunately for the kids after us, the colors were a little mixed.  Oops! She loved mixing the colors on the window.

Although the beginning of this post sounded a bit down and complain-y (sorry for all that) we are truly thankful for all the blessings in our life.  As I said before, Tom is crazy busy at work (He's usually rolling into bed between midnight and 1:00 every night), but I am thankful he has a great job to support his growing family.  I can get a little tired here and there, but then I just smile knowing that I have the privilege of carrying this growing baby for nine months.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  Every struggle we have, always comes with a silver lining.  We just have to find it!

I am looking forward to a 3 day weekend with no plans! I told Tom I was hoping to get a pedicure (this is needed in a seriously bad way) and he said he wanted to go golfing.  I hope we both get to enjoy a little escape over the three days, but most of all enjoy time together as a family!

22 Weeks

We are over half way to meeting our little one.  It has really flown by! I feel like one morning I woke up and poof, there was a bump.  I definitely started showing much early this time, but I also feel like I have stayed at the same size for a while.
I told Tom I wanted to take more pregnant pictures this time around, just to watch the growth.  We will see if that actually happens.  Gotta start somewhere - 22 weeks!!

Savannah wanted in on the belly shots!
She already loves this little baby.  She is convinced its a girl...we will see!
Tom's cousin, Steph came in town over the weekend.  She needed to be here for work during the week so came early to spend time with us.  It was wonderful to have family around.
{Hint hint to anyone reading this, we love having visitors and showing KC off!!}
Steph said I post about Deanna Rose all the time so she needed to see this place for herself.  Hopefully we didn't disappoint her.
The bald eagle had never been this close to the front of the cage before.
Savannah couldn't keep her eyes off Americus.
Taking advantage of a 4th person to take our picture.
Don't worry, she isn't eating mulch. I think it was a granola bar.
Savannah was entranced by the cow that was being milked.
Monday rolled back around, which means Evie is back! Savannah gets so excited when she walks in the door in the mornings.  We are sure going to miss her next week.  We are coming to the end of our Evie days.  Friday will be her last day with us.
They have developed a deeper love of books recently
I might have put the kids down for nap a bit early so I could sit in the backyard and enjoy the Solar eclipse.  What an amazing experience!
Tom and Steph even surprised me by coming home to watch it.
Before dinner I asked Tom to grab Savannah for a cute picture to commemorate the special day.  I thought it would be cute to show her in 2024 when the next one comes.
As you can see, Savannah wanted no part of that.  You win some, you lost some.
What did I say about reading! I found these two quietly reading in Savannah's room.
I hope you always want to sweep the floor.
Enjoying their morning cartoons.  They get to choose from Daniel Tiger or Curious George.  It holds their attention just long enough for me to do the morning dishes and then we are off to the races.  I'm OK with that.

Moving Home & Meeting Mary Grace

As I said in the previous post, poor Savannah never slept in the same place two times in a row for 2 weeks.  One night I got back to the hotel shortly before her bed time and realized I had left her pack n play at my parents house.  Luckily the hotel came through for me and had an extra.
Even though it is the exact same one we have, just a different color, Savannah thought this "new bed" was amazing!
Oh the little things to a kid.
 Exploring new parks
Two weeks after the lightning struck, we finally got to move back into the house! My first task was to scrub the refrigerators and freezers that had been sitting empty for the past two weeks.
Savannah wanted to get in on the fun!
Enjoying some McDonald's.  This gal had more fast food in those two weeks than she probably had in her whole life.
Having fun back at home.  Sometimes she wants to play in the dirt and mud, and I just don't have the energy to tell her no.
 making a mess
She thought she was "painting" the garage doors.

Checking out the animals at Deanna Rose.  We love this place!

Savannah likes pushing Evie on the swings.
 Another new park!
These girls have become little book worms this summer.  They love sitting down with their books and reading them out loud.  So cute!
 Reading at home.

 Chilling in our sunnies!

 Making biscuits with Daddy.

  Cheeeeeeeeese!

Savannah has been dying to meet Mary Grace.  She was so loving and gentle toward Mary.  Savannah did not want to give her up.  It was adorable!

After we popped into see Kaylee and Mary Grace, we went on a walk in her neighborhood and found a hidden park.  I love when these two try to help each other.
Walking on the path with these two chunksters.  That stroller is not an easy push!
