PHOTO CATCH UP FROM JULY
Saturday morning breakfast with dad. Savannah loves to stand on the chair and help with the cooking or baking.
Miss Mary Grace entered the world about a month ago. We were so happy to meet this little girl. Look at those praying hands!!
She was such a tiny little thing. So cute!
Sat. July 22nd was a night we won't soon forget.
There was a big thunder and lightning storm going on outside. Tom was working and I was already in bed. My mom called me around 10:30 pm to check on us because she said they had just lost power. Normally, I would have just gone back to bed but I decided to go downstairs. When I went down stairs, I heard a weird clicking noise coming from inside our walls. Tom went to the basement to check in out and when he came back up I told him I could smell something burning. I started to freak out a bit since we didn't know where is was coming from. Next thing I know, our speakers are buzzing really loud and them there was super loud popping and coming from our walls. It was so loud it woke Savannah up.
By this point, Tom went back down stairs and the basement was full of smoke that was quickly moving through the vents. I got Savannah out of her room and we jumped right in the car. Neither of our phones would dial out so I ran across the street to my neighbor's house to see if she could call 911.
Once I got there, I found that she was already on the line with them because their refrigerator and dishwasher had caught on fire. What a wild night!!
Savannah and I headed to my parents house for the night and Tom joined us once the fire department left.
I should have taken more pictures of my parents street. It truly looked like a tornado ripped through the area. A neighbor three doors down had a tree through two levels of their house.
Since my parents didn't have power either, we all moved in with my Aunt Lisa for a few days. We are so lucky to have family close by!
Lisa's an expert at homemade ice cream. She let Savannah assist her in her latest creation. Delicious!!
Savannah loved getting to pour and stir.
Since we weren't able to get back in our house due to lack of electricity, we spent our days hanging out at Evie's house. Poor Savannah was never in the same place for two sleeps in a row. It broke my heart every time she asked to go home and we couldn't.
These girls are going to miss each over when they aren't together every day.
Evie wanted to lay down so Savannah had to copy her, of course!
We have a new indoor fun place...Kidscape!
It's two streets behind my parents house, so about 6 minutes from mine. We love it. It is basically a huge room with dress up clothes, diner, boat, kitchen, school, theater, any thing a kid could want. I love watching the girls make believe together.
Sitting in the boat, waiting for her turn to use the fishing poles
Making burgers and ice cream cones in the diner.
Enjoying their food.
We really have to work on "pretend" eating. Savannah is still getting the hang of that one.
Savannah wanted a baby in her belly too.
Another tree that was uprooted from the storm.
Trees were down like this everywhere!!
More park fun.
So to finish up on our house drama.
Tom left for the U.K. the morning after the storm. I don't think I've ever cried when he left for a work trip. That changed after this trip. I was just so overwhelmed with everything we needed to do. Luckily, Tom was able to help organize things from the airport before he left the country.
We got an electrician to come out on Sunday afternoon and told us that due to the house being hit by lightning, all the wires coming into the house were fried and many in the house as well.
To speed the rest of this up, we eventually got placed in a hotel on Friday and were there for the next 8 days.
Savannah loved riding the "elegator" (elevator). Thank goodness we had breakfast in the morning and happy hour snacks in the afternoon. That way we didn't have to eat out three times a day. I was actually getting tired of chick fila (that's a crime to even say!)
{Hanging out in the lounge at the hotel}
Enjoying a park near the hotel
I love swinging with my girl
We tried to take full advantage of the pool. Savannah enjoyed taking an afternoon dip!
Goof Ball!
